Happy Hurricane Season!

Dear Students,

June 1st marks the beginning of hurricane season. Hurricane season goes from the beginning of June until November. We learned in class that hurricanes and tropical storms are named alphabetically. Can you find a website that lists the names for the 2009 hurricane season? What kind of predictions are being made for the 2009 season by meteorologists? Compared to recent years is this season supposed to be more or less active? What evidence supports your predictions?
Students please respond to these questions and to your classmates posts. Everyone should have one original post and at least one reply to a classmates post.

Happy Blogging,
Ms. Ring

I'm scared. I don't like strong winds or hurricanes. Luckily the ocean is far away.

Even though we are far away from the ocean the strong winds and rain of a hurricane can still effect our weather here in Michigan. When the storm travels over land it loses power due to friction with the ground, that is why we don't have hurricanes in Dearborn.
